The Newport 28' boat is a sloop that performs very well in light air. Her light displacement, rounded hull, low profile cabin and sleek lines make this boat quite tender. She has a surprising amount of interior volume with 6'2" of headroom in the salon. This is a perfect racer/cruiser, weekender, coastal cruiser that can be easily singlehanded and she balances well with a smaller headsail and full mainsail.

These sailboats were built by Capital Yachts Corp in California. The production run began in 1971 and ended in 1996. The naval Architects, Gary Mull & Cuthertson and Cassian (C&C) saw a real need for a quality line of sailboats with hand laid hulls and decks, lead keels, heavy duty rigging and deck hardware coupled with interior designs for extended blue water sailing at a fair market price.
