Overview

Versatility best describes the Hunter 466. Whether owners want to cross oceans or bays, racing around the buoys or liveaboard, this boat has the capacity to do it all. The dinette area is large enough to handle the family, but intimate enough for just two. Storage is plentiful as is the natural light and ventilation. Hand-rubbed teak and nice fabrics are found throughout the grand interior. An innovative forward head arrangement splits the shower and head so both can be used at once. A large dual-opening refrigerator and freezer is central to the U-shaped galley. The Force 10 stove and oven, plus a microwave will make dinners a joy to prepare, while the island sink will have cleanup covered. Storage for everything is at hand including the recessed trash receptacle. The forward master stateroom rivals most yachts twice her size. Twin hanging lockers and lots of drawers make staying aboard easy and a great night's sleep is guaranteed by the innerspring mattresses. Entertaining is gracious with the open salon which incorporates a TV and CD stereo. Twin comfortable seats and a convertible cocktail table are located just forward of the extensive nav station with plenty of space for electronics and gear. Aft, features dual guest staterooms both of which have double berths and are large, airy and comfortable.

Sails & B&R Rig

The B&R rig, utilized on the Hunter H466, eliminates the need for a backstay to allow for a more efficient mainsail shape. Fixed backstays are commonly being designed out of today's performance-oriented boats to allow the mainsail to incorporate a full roach design - a more aerodynamic shape both for racing and cruising performance. To accomplish this, the B&R rig has 30 degree swept spreaders, creating 120 degrees between each rigging point. This tri-pod arrangement has excellent strength for sailboat rigs, and has been used for years to support huge radio towers. The latest advancement to the B&R rig is the addition of mast struts. These struts stabilize the lower section of the mast, allowing compression loads to be spread, reducing the point loading at the mast base. They also create a strong point for the boom and spinnaker pole loadings. The struts function also allow us to use a smaller mast section reducing weight aloft to decrease the heeling and pitching moments, making for a more comfortable ride. Additionally, they provide a secure handhold when going forward.
