2000 Island Packet 380 Well-Equipped Offshore Cruiser
The Island Packet 380 is a proven offshore cruising yacht that combines exceptional comfort, safety, and passagemaking ability with a remarkably manageable size. With her 4’7" shallow draft, full-foil keel, cutter rig, and excellent sea-keeping characteristics, she is equally at home crossing an ocean, cruising the coast, or anchoring in shallow waters alongside the catamarans.
This 380 has been thoughtfully equipped for extended cruising and features extensive upgrades to her major systems, including NEW STANDING RIGGING AND NEW SAILS IN 2018. Most major systems were renewed or upgraded in 2018/2019, with new house batteries in 2020. She is loaded with serious cruising equipment, including a Spectra watermaker, Hydrovane windvane steering, SSB radio with Pactor modem, AIS, radar, solar, wind generator, and high-output alternator.
Her cutter rig is exceptionally easy to manage and well suited to short-handed sailing. The in-mast furling mainsail, roller-furling genoa, and self-tacking roller-furling staysail allow the sail plan to be adjusted quickly and safely from the cockpit. All standing rigging was replaced in 2018, and the main, genoa, and staysail were also replaced in 2018 with premium Challenge Marblehead Dacron sails built by Mack Sails.
Below deck, the Island Packet 380 offers an unusually spacious and comfortable interior for a yacht of this size. The warm teak interior is bright and exceptionally well ventilated, with two cabins, one head, and accommodations for up to seven. The forward owner’s cabin features a desirable centerline queen berth, premium latex mattress, abundant storage, opening ports, and overhead ventilation. The salon provides generous seating and storage, while the well-equipped U-shaped galley is ideally suited to extended cruising.
The galley features a three-burner gimballed LPG stove and oven, deep double stainless sink, hot and cold pressure water, large refrigerated box, separate freezer, and drinking-water filtration. The combination of generous storage and substantial tankage makes her particularly well suited for extended voyages.
The electrical system is equally impressive, with 520 watts of solar, Eclectic Energy D400 wind generator, Balmar 100-amp high-output alternator, Victron battery monitoring and solar controller, AGM house bank totaling 480Ah, and inverter/charger.
Navigation equipment includes a Raymarine Axiom 9 multifunction display, Raymarine Quantum 2 Doppler/CHIRP radar, Vesper AIS transponder, Raymarine autopilot, Raymarine wind/speed/depth instruments, Standard Horizon VHF, and Icom M802 SSB with Pactor modem.
Additional cruising equipment includes a Hydrovane windvane, Spectra Ventura 200T watermaker, Wesmar bow thruster, Max-Prop three-blade feathering propeller, Maxwell electric windlass, Kato dinghy davits, Achilles Hypalon dinghy, Yamaha 8 HP outboard, dodger and bimini, full shade awnings, cockpit shower, and extensive ground tackle.
