AKKA is a classic 50? live-aboard, ocean-going dream come true. With her signature Sparkman & Stevens hull design, easily handled cutter rig, and a custom hard dodger to protect the aft cockpit, she is a joy to sail and a beautiful sight in the harbor.
Got kids? Now?s the time to give them the adventure of a lifetime. Akka?s three cabin interior features a spacious forepeak and a double cabin and quarterberth. Two full heads give privacy and comfort.
Akka comes fully equipped and well-maintained. She has just come out of the yard after a major refit, including all new, up-sized standing rigging, new Harken genoa roller furler, new Awlgrip topsides and top-quality bottom paint.
From the large aft cockpit, the companionway leads into the aft stateroom. From there, a port passageway leads through the galley, and a starboard passageway through the aft head, into the main salon, which is open-plan, with galley and dining area to port, nav station and comfortable settee/sea berth to starboard.
The salon is spacious and light-filled with 4 opening sidelights and 4 ceiling hatches. The beautiful inlaid teak table seats six. The starboard settee and wraparound port settee feature outboard bookshelves and cupboards, with hidden storage cupboards below. Full standing headroom throughout.Â
Going forward, there is a wide passageway with a double bunk-bed cabin to port, perfect for kids or storage, with the forward head to starboard.  Just forward of that is the owners’ stateroom, with its queen-size V-berth, hanging locker and multiple cupboards.Â
Two watertight doors give access from the forepeak into the chain locker in the bow.
Three-stateroom layout sleeps 7 (8 in a pinch).Â
“It’s not a galley – it’s a kitchen!†The galley is secure and spacious, open to the salon.  A wide centerline counter has a cutting board, double sink and drainboard. Outboard, there is a stove and another wide counter with the refrigerator and freezer below. Generous storage in cupboards and drawers.
The engine compartment on AKKA is below the sink counter in the main salon. Excellent access to all systems through hatches forward, on both sides and at aft end. Engine compartment is well-insulated and soundproofed.Â
AKKA's hull is constructed of solid hand-laid fiberglass with longitudinal stringers. Her deck is balsa-cored with solid fiberglass in high stress areas. The hull has an epoxy barrier coat and Hempel semi-ablative antifouling bottom paint. All below waterline Groco bronze through-hull fittings (2013).
AKKA is a cutter-rigged vessel.
