This Robert Perry design was introduced into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame in 1997. The Valiant 40 has won more single, and double handed trans-ocean races, than any other sailing yacht.
This is a standard aft cockpit Valiant 40 sailboat with a cutter rig. Forward is a V berth with storage underneath and lockers. Aft of this to port is a head containing a vanity with sink, a toilet, and a separate stall shower. Aft of this is the salon. There is an L-shaped settee to port and a straight settee to starboard with an alcove which supports the Dickerson "Antarctic" diesel shipboard heater. Aft of the salon is the nav station to starboard and on the port side is the large U-shaped galley. Aft of that is the aft cabin and the companionway.
