This gorgeous C&C 43 left the original custom shop in 1973. The legendary C&C 43s built by Bruckmann Yachts are outstandingly strong, powerful and fast boats.

One of only a handful built, this particular example was essentially gutted and completely refit in 2010, it was re-powered with a Yanmar 75 hp diesel in 2000 (vs. 55 hp original engine), full new custom interior (beautifully done in solid book-matched teak), and she's in better shape now than when new -vessel has been upgraded, updated or rebuilt from stem to stern, and she's now a TOTALLY different boat than when launched. Absolutely the finest available, Evening Star must be seen to be appreciated.

Accommodations

Salon & Settee

The Usual Suspect's interior is light, bright and spacious. The salon seats six comfortably around a collapsible mahogany dining table, which converts to a larger than queen size bed, with the additional option of flipping up the outboard back rest to a sea berth with a lee cloth for more accommodations. There is ample storage under the entire salon seating.

Across, from the salon is is a settee with a long bench that also flips up to form a sea berth or for storage at sea, underneath is a extra long single.

V-Berth

Extra attention was made in redesigning the v-berth ensuring the bunk is very large. A king size fitted sheet is required to accommodate the width at the aft end of the bunk. Forward of the berth is an extra large locker for storage and the chain locker forward of that. Under either side of the berth are two integral fresh water tanks with a large area for storage in the center. To port is a hanging locker and starboard has a set of cupboards with a small night table.

Pilot Berth

The port aft pilot berth is a comfortable spot to accommodate up to two people and is open to the rest of the salon.

Head

The head is located on the aft starboard side of the v-berth. It is a good sized space with plenty of storage in the counter and above the head itself.

Galley

Very nice, practical galley with stainless steel sink with one-touch hot/cold pressure water (with fresh water foot pump as backup), Force Ten four burner propane stove with oven, ice box/freezer with Technautics 12V refrigeration. Village Marine water maker (pickled). Jabsco manual pump toilet in head with handheld wand shower.

Electrical

110V AC /12V DC. Thirty amp shorepower service, Heart Interface 1000 charger/inverter, six 6V batteries in separate banks with parallel switch, single Gp 27 dedicated engine start battery. Note all batteries new in April 2016.

Electronics

Raytheon GPS chartplotter, Furuno radar, Raymarine ST6001 autopilot, Autohelm Mult instrument (knot/log/depth), Autohelm wind speed/direction, Icom VHF radio, 8" Danforth magnetic compass. Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo.

Sails and Rigging

Keel-stepped double spreader aluminum mast with hydraulic backstay adjuster, full batten main sail on aluminum boom with rigid vang and Harken mainsheet, 90% jib on Harken roller furling with six other headsails reported in storage. Stainless steel rod standing rigging.

Single  Lewmar #48 electric winch (used for main halyard, then mainsheet), Harken #40 self-tailing winch, two Barient #35 self tailing winches, two Barient #32 winches, three Barient # 26 winches, two Barient # 22 winches. Inboard genoa track, all lines lead aft.

Deck and Hull

FRP fin keel/spade rudder hull that's flawlessly done in Flag Blue Awlgrip, last hauled and bottom painted in late June 2016. Simpson Lawrence electric winch, 35 lb CQR anchor with 5/16" chain rode, four mooring cleats. Heavy duty offshore dodger with grab rails sides and back, nice little half bimini top over the helm.

Engines

Yanmar four cylinder 75 hp fresh water cooled turbo diesel installed in 2008,, 1,950 hours 1 1/4" stainless steel shaft thru dripless packing gland to three-bladed MaxProp. Edson cable and quadrant steering, oversize custom varnished teak and stainless steel wheel.
