The Robb Ladd-designed Tayana 64 is all about modern cruising with its handsome, sleek profile, curved deck-saloon windows, a bright, open interior, Generator and more! The true beauty of this yacht is in it's balanced combination of power and ease of handling. This is the ultimate ocean going cruising sailboat! She is 64 feet long with a beam of 18 feet. Ladd?s powerful hull shape and well behaved sail plan makes it possible to sail this yacht short handed. A couple can easily sail her.
Ladd?s underbody has a long cruising fin keel with an integral ballast of 21,000 lbs! She has amazing ballast to displacement ratio of 32%! She has a very fine entry with a raked stem and high bow for windward performance and a nice dry rid. The beam creates stability and also gives you nice side decks, and the reverse transom provides that beautiful stairway to heaven, four steps down to the water. The rudder is protected by a full skeg that provides tracking stability and excellent handling.
Central Heat & Air Conditioning
Stepping below decks is quite the experience on this beautiful Tayana. You will instantly recognize the high quality joinery with attention to detail that you would expect from a yacht of this caliber. The beautiful satin varnish and solid teak doors with dove-tailed drawers and high quality fixtures. The gorgeous curved deck salon windows provide plenty of light and the stainless steel opening ports and the offshore hatches offer excellent ventilation. SHEMA is an extraordinarily comfortable vessel that is more spacious than you can imagine a 64’ yacht could be. The amazing layout takes full advantage of the beam of just over 18 feet, to give you beautiful accommodations for three couples and crew quarters in addition. While it is easy to sail this vessel, you can actually have a captain and crew member aboard and still have privacy. There is a gorgeous large owners stateroom aft, two comfortable guest staterooms with heads and fully separate crew quarters.
The interior layout of SHEMA begins forward with a stateroom to port, a double berth outboard with an ensuite head and separate stall shower. Adjacent to starboard is the second forward stateroom with an upper and lower berthing configuration and ample storage throughout this area. Aft of this stateroom on the starboard side is the second head that also serves as a day head and is easily accessible from the main salon.
The main salon makes great use of the vessel’s beam, with a dramatic round dinette to starboard with seating for eight to ten people. To port is a semi-circular settee with an oval cocktail table located forward of the traditional navigation station. The salon is simply gorgeous with fantastic head room, beautiful salon windows, and wonderful ventilation.
The third sleeping stateroom, the crew’s quarters, is located aft of the main salon on the starboard side adjacent to the companionway stairs. This stateroom offers an upper and lower bunk configuration with access to the engine compartment.
The very well appointed walk through galley is on the port side. Passing through the galley, you access the incredibly spacious owner’s aft stateroom. The owner’s stateroom is beautifully appointed and extremely spacious. There is a walk around queen centerline berth with beautiful cabinetry, drawers and hanging lockers and of course a generous ensuite head with a separate stall shower.

The Tayana 64 is a twin headstay sloop with a removable inner forestay. The total sail area of 1768 sq feet is easily managed with all the modern sail handling equipment and amenities including electric winches and roller furling on all sails including the LeisureFurl mainsail system. The head sails are solent rigged with two headstays with roller furling located about 14†apart. The forward mast stay has a 130% genoa for lighter air and downwind sailing. The aft stay has a self-tending working jib. The mainsail is easily managed with the hydraulic in-boom furling system which makes reefing very easy. The Tayana 64 was designed so that someone could step off their 35’ sailboat and be able to sail, even single hand, the much larger Tayana. All six primary and secondary winches are within reach of the helm station. There are two halyard winches at the mast. All the sail controls are in the cockpit and with the electric winches this is truly push button sailing!
Lewmar main sheet system:
Robb Ladd’s design is contemporary with wide beam at the deck level and moderate beam at the waterline with a raked stem and reverse transom. The low deckhouse gives the vessel a stylish sleek appearance. The Tayana 64 has an angle of vanishing stability of 129 degrees. This means that, combined with her excellent ballast/displacement ratio, she’ll stay strongly on her feet in high seas and big winds. Her underbody has an elongated fin keel with integral lead ballast and a protected skeg hung rudder, giving her great handling for a yacht of her size. The hull is solid FRP from the waterline down. Above the waterline she she is cored with ATC Corecell high density foam except around port lights, hatches and fittings which are solid fiberglass. The reverse transom with 4 steps to the water offers easy access to the dinghy and access to swimming.
