The Slocum 43 is a sturdy double ended cutter rig designed by Naval Architect Stan Huntingford of British Columbia, Canada. This popular, proven design incorporates seaworthiness, a sensible deck layout, ample interior space and storage for safe and comfortable cruising. Of the 50 hulls built many of them have either circumnavigated or crossed oceans. The hull features a fine entry, a long cutaway forefoot, and an efficient keel section followed by a deep skeg hung rudder that provides great upwind performance and excellent tracking off the wind.
The voluminous interior is beautifully finished in solid teak with 2 private staterooms, a spacious head with stall shower, a large U-shaped galley, chart table and a generous main salon. Built to ABS standards in a temperature and humidity controlled enviroment, the Slocum is built to last and cruise anywhere.

The gorgeous all teak interior is spacious and functional. The wide beam makes living aboard on an extended cruise comfortable and cozy. Nautical character abounds with teak staving throughout. Cabinetry is solid teak with louvered doors. Ample ports and overhead hatches provide excellent ventilation in the tropics. All interior upholstery and bed coverings are done in a deep rich hunter green color fabric that works nicely with the teak and it is all in excellent condition.
The private owner's stateroom is located aft to port at the base of the companionway. It is a very private and pleasant space to relax. The entire stateroom is finished in teak staving which makes it warm and cozy. While underway it is close enough to the cockpit for ease of communication and safety. The spacious stateroom features an oversized double berth. On the outboard side above the berth there is a bookshelf with two louvered cabinets on either side. There are four large drawers beneath the berth for storage. Additional storage includes a large hanging locker as well as an additional large cabinet. Natural lighting is provided by a 12" X 16" overhead hatch and 2 port lights with screens. Additional lighting is provided by 2 reading lights and an overhead dome light.
Located aft to starboard adjacent to the companionway is a comfortable quarter berth. This is a great berth for crew to rest while making passages. There are two cabinets and a 3' bookshelf that runs in between. Light and ventilation is provided by an opening portlight with screen and a reading light.
At the base of the companionway is a teak grate where one can remove wet foul weather gear after a watch. Adjacent to starboard is a wet locker where the foul weather gear can be hung to dry. This is an excellent feature for an offshore passage making cruising yacht.
The functional U-shaped galley is a chefs dream located to port with expansive counter space, loads of storage and a large double stainless steel sink. There is a large window panel above the stove which brings in ample natural light and allows the chef to keep an eye on the horizon. The galley features an Adler Barbour refrigeration system with two large compartments one of which has both top and front loading access. For cooking there is a gimbaled stainless steel Shipmate LPG stove / oven / broiler as well as a Panasonic 700W Microwave oven. There is hot & cold pressure water and a whale gusher foot pump. Storage is abundant with 9 drawers, 5 cabinets, 2 shelves and 2 spice racks.
Conveniently located opposite the galley is a 31" deep and 46" wide forward facing chart table with lift top storage. Circuit panels are easily accessed adjacent to the nav. station. There is a 10.5" Furuno NavNet Chartplotter / Radar unit mounted just above the chart table. Below the chart table is a large storage cabinet and there are two tool drawers under the seat.
Headroom in the main salon is 6'6". There is C-Shaped dinette with a large round table to port that will easily accommodate 4-6 in comfort for dinner. Across from the dinette is a 7' bench settee that could easily serve as another berth. The space is flooded with natural light from 4 large horizontal windows and there is a large opening hatch above with a screen. Once again there are multiple storage options throughout the main salon with cabinets on either side and bookshelves. Just forward of the settee on the starboard side is a cabinet unit with a counter on top and five drawers below.
Located on the port side just forward of the main salon, the head is very functional featuring a stand up separate stall shower with a seat. This is not a "wet head". There is a nice size vanity with a sink and louvered storage cabinets both above and below the vanity. There is a 20" X 30" mirror with a teak frame and an electric marine toilet.
The forward stateroom features a large double berth that is offset to port with a comfortable settee adjacent to starboard. There are louvered cabinets and a bookshelf along each upper side. A generous clothes hanging locker is to starboard beyond the door. There are drawers below the berth with two small cabinets on each lower side. Chain-locker entry is through louvered doors located on the forward bulkhead. There are reading lights and a ceiling light. Ample ventilation is provided by a 20" X 20" overhead hatch and 1 portlight.
