MATOWI is an immaculate 54 Raised Salon that was well planned and sensibly commissioned to be easily managed by a cruising couple. Her architect owners worked directly with the builder to incorporate tasteful design and comfort features throughout. She was lightly cruised and is now available with low hours and an extensive list of options.
The 54 Hylas was designed by German Frers for world cruising and built by Queen Long Marine, one of the world's premier quality semi-custom builders. The Hylas 54 is a proven design that has safely carried owners to all corners of the world.
MATOWI represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a heavily equipped cruising yacht in excellent condition that is ready to enjoy today.
She is easy to view on our docks on San Francisco Bay. Call us to inspect this fine yacht!
Her architect owners worked closely with Queen Long during the build and specified unique treatments that truly set MATOWI apart from other 54' Hylas yachts. Cabinetry and doors are done in Teak with Ebony inlay. Passageway doors have squared bases at the bottom and rounded corners on top. The soles throughout MATOWI are done in Bamboo with Teak inlay. There is a double grooved design element around the main salon, galley and cabin fiddles. There is teak facia along the coachroof throughout all cabins including the main salon and galley. Cameo white headliners were used in lieu of the standard material and 41 Newport LED Recessed Lights on dimmers were added throughout the yacht. Beautiful Giallo California Granite Counters were used in the galley that work well with the Teak and Ebony cabinetry. Upholstery is UltraSuede and all of it is in near perfect condition. Attention to detail is evident and the finished product that was created is stunning.
The main salon is bright, comfortable and inviting. There is a large U-shaped dinette to port with two comfortable folding stools to accommodate seating all around. The galley is close by so the chef can still be part of the group. The dinette table features an expanding leaf which stows into a sleeve in a cabinet. To starboard is a straight settee that pulls out to make a wide sea berth. There is a flat screen TV on an electric lift that is connected to the TracVision Satellite dome. The outboard facing navigation station has an adjacent office area aft with a computer shelf and a Herman Miller Aeron chair on a pedestal. There is storage access behind and below all salon cushions that is cut in such a way that access is directly behind each removable cushion section. The forward cabinet on the starboard side is a custom liquor locker.
MATOWI features a large passageway galley that feels more like your home kitchen than a yacht galley. The galley is a large, bright, well organized and functional space that is directly adjacent to the main salon keeping everyone together. There is enough room to allow two people to work simultaneously. She has two large top and front loading refrigerator / freezer compartments, a Force 10 propane stove with oven and broiler, Microwave / Convection Oven and a Vesta Dishwasher. Fine cabinetry storage is abundant, the large double sink is on centerline and there are long usable counter spaces throughout.
One of the many advantages of a center cockpit yacht is the large aft master stateroom. There are very few yachts of this size that have master staterooms as nice as MATOWI. Her raised centerline king size berth has six convenient drawers below that are easily accessed from the front. The standard settee was eliminated to provide better cruising storage. There is a flat screen TV on the forward bulkhead with a huge hanging locker below. There are his and her lockers and drawers on either side of the stateroom. Access to the spacious master head is on the port side, and the doorway to the passageway galley is to starboard. There are four opening ports and a large Ocean Air hatch above the berth to keep the cabin well ventilated in a slight breeze. The CruiseAir reverse cycle Air Conditioning and Heating system will maintain a comfortable preset temperature on the thermostat when needed.
The owners head is accessed directly from the master stateroom. This head is large and well designed with a full size stall shower. There is a cabinet with a washer / dryer unit in the stall shower compartment. Two opening ports provide ample ventilation. The marine toilet is an odor free VacuFlush fresh water system. The sole in the head and shower is in a non-skid Wah-Lee material that is easily cleaned.
The luxurious forward guest stateroom features a comfortable centerline queen size berth. The stateroom has direct access to the forward starboard side head. There is a settee on the starboard side as well. Ample storage is found in cabinets both under the berth and along the sides. His and her hanging lockers are found on both sides. There is a large OceanAir overhead hatch with screen and shade plus two Hella fans. A CruiseAir reverse cycle central air conditioning and heating system will maintain a preset temperature.
The forward guest head is as luxurious as the owners head. It is a spacious compartment with a separate stall shower. The head features a convenient Wet Locker located in the shower. There is a fold down teak seat within the shower. The compartment is finished in bright white gelcoat with teak trim. Soles are done in a light gray Wah-Lee non skid surface. There are two opening ports and an overhead hatch with a screen. There is ample storage. The marine toilet is an odor free VacuFlush fresh water system with a tank monitor and a macerator.
This cabin was cleverly designed to double as a sleeping cabin or a workroom with a workbench, tool drawers and both 110V and 12V outlets. The single mattress base can either slide out to convert to a double berth, or it can be hinged up to expose the workbench underneath. The stateroom is extremely functional with loads of storage. With the bed converted to a double it makes an excellent sea berth while underway in all conditions. The U-Line IceMaker is located in this stateroom as well.
The Navigation station is L-shaped and located to port aft of the salon U-shaped settee. There are two desk areas and a Herman Miller Aeron swivel chair. The chart table is large enough for full size charts and has a convenient bi-fold top. There is a dedicated computer desk adjacent to the nav station. Instruments and systems are well arranged both inside and out. The instrument panel is hinged for easy access to electronics, wiring harness and connections. The circuit breaker panel is located aft of the nav station. It is well arranged, back lit and it is hinged for easy access.
There are two stained glass panels on the forward bulkhead in the main salon that are excluded from the sale.
